Adding “auto sizes” for lazy-loaded images | Google

In 2020 and 2021 we helped the Google Rendering team with specification tests for several things, including extensive work on HTML lazy-loading. Our addition allows web developers to omit the sizes attribute when using lazy-loading images in HTML.

Combatting Police Surveillance

Accessible Website Re-Design | Stop LAPD Spying

Stop LAPD Spying is a community organization that works to end police surveillance by uplifting the voices and expertise of those most affected by and vulnerable to police violence. Bocoup teamed up with Stop LAPD Spying to build an accessible website for political education and community involvement.

We worked with the W3C's APG Task Force and Education and Outreach Working Group to redesign the ARIA Authoring Practice Guide, an essential resource to improve web accessibility.

We worked with workers and organizers to develop an accessible map and backend for aggregating and publishing concrete actions that everyday people can take in solidarity with worker organizing.

Airtable Developer Experience and Extension Creation

Designing and Implementing Extensions | Airtable

Bocoup worked with Airtable to conduct developer experience research into Airtable Extensions (formerly known as Apps and Blocks) and improved the dev experience according to community priorities. This included engaging in the forums and Github issues, reorganizing repos, building CLI tools, and publishing tutorials. Through this process we also developed what have become three official Airtable Extensions, including the Vega Lite, JSON editing, Google Street view and a URL preview Extensions.

Improving the Web Audio DevTool

Chrome DevTools Web Audio Inspector | Google Chrome

We worked with the Google Chrome team to develop the latest version of the Web Audio DevTools Inspector. A Chrome extension that visualizes the audio graph in a web page for inspection and debugging web audio implementations.

After our work, HTML standard’s rendering rules for `

Improving lazy-loading implementation

Lazy-Loading | Google

In 2020, Bocoup helped research usage patterns on the web for lazy-loaded images to inform optimal behavior for browsers to implement for the new loading="lazy" attribute on img and iframe elements in HTML.
